Official regulations, privacy policies, and terms governing the Asociación de Médicos Veterinarios Cubanos en el Exilio (AMVCE).
The following regulations define the structure, governance, and operational principles of the Asociación de Médicos Veterinarios Cubanos en el Exilio (AMVCE), established in accordance with the laws of the State of Florida.
The official name of this corporation shall be Asociación de Médicos Veterinarios Cubanos en el Exilio, Inc., hereinafter referred to as the “Association.”
The Association is constituted according to its official bylaws and in accordance with the laws of the State of Florida.
The objectives of the Association are:
A. To contribute with the efforts of Cuban veterinarians in exile toward the restoration of democratic principles in Cuba, collaborating with other organizations that promote civic values and awareness of the Cuban people’s situation.
B. To maintain the highest professional standards among members of the Association.
C. The Association shall operate as a non-profit organization.
D. The Association will not distribute financial benefits or compensation to members of the Executive Committee.
E. The Association will not endorse political candidates, legislators, or political parties. Members wishing to support political causes must do so individually and not in representation of the Association.
F. The Association may establish a Political Action Committee authorized to support initiatives aligned with the mission and values of the organization.
Membership in the Association may be granted to an unlimited number of Cuban veterinarians or individuals of Cuban origin.
Honorary membership may be granted in exceptional cases and must be approved by a General Assembly.
All members must demonstrate agreement with the purposes and objectives defined in Article 2.
The Association shall exist for an indefinite period, provided that the circumstances which motivated its creation continue to exist.
The Association may only be dissolved through an extraordinary general assembly, as established in Article 12.
The affairs of the Association shall be managed by an Executive Board, composed of thirteen members elected by vote of the members every two years.
The Executive Board consists of:
• President
• Two Vice Presidents
• Secretary
• Vice Secretary
• Treasurer
• Vice Treasurer
• Press & Communications Delegate
• Five Board Members (Vocales)
The Executive Board is responsible for guiding the activities of the Association and ensuring compliance with the regulations.
An Advisory Council composed of the four most recent past presidents may also be established.
The Executive Board is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Association and ensuring compliance with its regulations.
Responsibilities include:
• Attending meetings of the Association
• Participating in decision-making processes
• Appointing members to committees or special commissions when necessary
The President represents the Association in official acts and presides over meetings.
The Secretary maintains official records and correspondence.
The Treasurer manages financial records, accounts, and financial reports.
Additional officers perform their duties as defined within the organizational structure of the Association.
Applicants for membership must meet the qualifications defined in Article 3 and provide appropriate documentation verifying their veterinary education or professional status.
Membership may be terminated through voluntary resignation or through disciplinary action approved by the Executive Board.
Members are required to remain current on membership fees and uphold the professional and ethical standards of the Association.
Ordinary assemblies of the Association shall be held every six months.
Extraordinary meetings may be called by the President, the Executive Board, or by written request of at least 25 members.
Members will be notified of extraordinary meetings at least 72 hours in advance.
Members of the Association have the right to:
• Attend meetings and assemblies
• Participate in discussions and decisions
• Vote in elections
• Run for executive positions
Members also have the responsibility to:
• Support the mission of the Association
• Pay membership fees on time
• Protect the integrity and reputation of the organization.
The Executive Board shall be elected every two years.
An Electoral Committee composed of three members will supervise the election process.
Voting rights are granted to all active members in good standing.
Election results are announced immediately after votes are counted.
These regulations may be modified, amended, or repealed through an extraordinary general assembly, following the procedures defined in Article 8.
The Association may be dissolved by approval of at least 75% of active members present at an assembly.
In the event of dissolution, all assets of the Association shall be donated to tax-exempt organizations or institutions related to veterinary science.
Any revision of these regulations must be approved during a general assembly and subsequently distributed to all members.
The revised regulations will take effect on the first day of the month following approval.
Membership in AMVCE includes the following fees.
Applicants requesting AMVCE support for the NAVLE examination must comply with Florida Chapter 474 requirements and submit a $1000 processing fee.
